Animal Welfare Policy

Last updated: April 3, 2026

Zero Tolerance for Animal Cruelty

We have zero tolerance for animal cruelty, abuse, or neglect.

theirlife.pet exists to celebrate and protect animal lives. Any content that harms, endangers, or exploits animals is antithetical to our mission and will be met with the strongest possible enforcement action. There are no warnings, no second chances, and no appeals for confirmed animal cruelty.

What Constitutes a Violation

The following actions, when depicted in, facilitated by, or encouraged through content on our platform, constitute violations of this policy:

Physical Harm

Hitting, kicking, burning, drowning, poisoning, shooting, or otherwise inflicting physical pain or injury on any animal. This includes “discipline” methods that cause pain or distress.

Intentional Distress

Deliberately frightening, tormenting, or provoking animals for entertainment or content purposes. This includes scaring animals with loud noises, confronting them with predators, or placing them in stressful situations they cannot escape.

Neglect

Content that reveals or normalizes the deprivation of food, water, shelter, veterinary care, or sanitary living conditions. This includes hoarding situations and animals in visibly poor health due to lack of care.

Dangerous Stunts

Placing animals in dangerous situations for the purpose of creating content. This includes exposing animals to heights, traffic, fire, water, wild predators, or any other hazard where injury or death is reasonably foreseeable.

Staged Rescue Scenarios

Deliberately placing animals in distress in order to film a “rescue.” This includes abandoning animals, trapping them, injuring them, or otherwise creating the conditions from which the animal is then “saved” on camera. Genuine rescue documentation is welcome; fabricated rescue content is not.

Animal Fighting

Any content that depicts, promotes, or facilitates dogfighting, cockfighting, or any other form of organized or casual animal fighting. This includes training content designed to prepare animals for fighting.

Automatic Actions on Report

When content is reported for animal cruelty, the following actions are taken automatically, before human review:

  1. Content immediately hidden:The reported content is removed from public view within minutes of the report being filed. It remains accessible only to our Trust & Safety team for review.
  2. Creator upload suspended:The creator's ability to upload new content is temporarily suspended pending review.
  3. Evidence preserved: The reported content, all associated metadata (upload date, IP address, geolocation if available, account history), and the report itself are preserved as evidence. This evidence is retained even if the creator deletes their account.
  4. Priority review queued:Animal cruelty reports are reviewed at the highest priority level by our Trust & Safety team.

Reporting to Authorities

We will report suspected animal cruelty to relevant local authorities including animal control and law enforcement.

When our Trust & Safety team confirms content depicts animal cruelty, or when content provides sufficient grounds for reasonable suspicion, we will proactively report to the appropriate authorities. This may include:

  • Local animal control agencies
  • Law enforcement (local police, sheriff, state police)
  • State or national animal welfare organizations (ASPCA, RSPCA, etc.)
  • The FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) for cases involving interstate activity

We will provide authorities with all available evidence, including the content itself, account information, upload metadata, and any location data associated with the content.

Whistleblower Protection

All reporters are anonymous. The identity of the person who reported content is never disclosed to the content creator, regardless of the outcome of the review. This protection is absolute and applies to all report categories, not only animal cruelty.

We will not retaliate against or penalize any user for filing a report in good faith. Users who abuse the reporting system to harass creators through false reports may face enforcement action, but good-faith reports — even if ultimately not substantiated — are always protected.

Permanent Ban — No Appeals

Strikes for confirmed animal cruelty never expire and result in a permanent platform ban. Unlike other policy violations that follow the 3-strike graduated enforcement system, a single confirmed instance of animal cruelty results in:

  • Immediate and permanent termination of the creator's channel
  • Removal of all content from the platform
  • Forfeiture of any pending payouts or earnings
  • Permanent ban from creating new accounts
  • Referral to law enforcement where applicable

There is no appeal process for confirmed animal cruelty. This decision is final.
