urSmartID · How it works

Tap or scan, and the right person gets what they need

For pet owners choosing an ID tag. What happens in the seconds after someone finds your pet.

On a phone

Live screens from the product, captured on a phone with demonstration data.

urSmartID page a finder sees after scanning Maple’s tag, with name, species, breed and an I found this pet button.
What a finder sees when they scan.
urSmartID Smart Tags screen listing two active tags with Report lost, Show QR, Privacy and View scans.
Your tags: lost mode, QR, privacy and scans.

No app, no account, nothing to install

The tag can be tapped with a phone or its QR code scanned. The finder needs no app and no account. They see how to help and how to reach you.

Your phone number is not on the tag

You would not post your phone number on a telephone pole, so urSmartID does not engrave it on something your animal carries everywhere. Your number is not on the tag or on the page a finder sees.

A finder can tell you in a few taps that they have your pet, saw them, or found just the tag, and you are alerted straight away. When your pet is marked lost, they can also message you through a private relay. Neither of you sees the other’s number or email.

Each reader sees their part

A finder sees how to help. A veterinarian’s account sees medications, allergies and reactions. Animal control sees licensing. Nobody sees more than their situation calls for.

The tag itself

Stainless steel sealed in epoxy. Rugged and water-resistant, with no battery and no electronics, so there is nothing to charge or replace. One purchase and no subscription.

If the tag is lost, you replace it and the record is intact, because the identity was never on the tag.
